Doberman Entertainment hired Daniel Millican to write, direct and edit this movie which was released by Screen Media Ventures in theaters October 2010 and on video February 2011.
A family musical with heart, Rising Stars explores the sacrifices that come with fame in reality television-obsessed culture. Challenged with creating songs and music videos, three musical acts find more than their futures on the line when the competition gets fierce and their lives are caught on tape broadcast to the nation. Egos clash and worlds collide as these teens find how far they will go to win the coveted prize and achieve stardom.
The movie is available on Amazon and for download from iTunes. It’s streaming on Netflix. DVD’s have been seen in many big box retailers and in most of the faith-based bookstores. We shot this in August of 2009 in Arlington, Texas– mostly at the University of Texas at Arlington.
The movie stars Fisher Stevens, Barry Corbin, and Rebecca St. James. The upcoming stars are led by Kyle Riabko, Lauren Ashley Carter, and Leon Thomas III.
